This article provides information on adding news articles to your Pitchero Club website, as well as adding types of content to the news article.

Overview

The news article page allows the club to create news items to share with their members, this will display on the homepage. 

News is managed by webmasters with access to Site Content area of the club control panel, team-specific news can be added by any team admin. 

Note:

You may be searching for a way to create a poll on your website to gauge an opinion from your members.

To this end you're able to add a link to Google forms on your website. There are several options that are available to you in this case.

You're able to add a links to News articles, Promoted Links, Match Reports or Custom Sections.

Add a news article

Step-by-step guide:

  • Go to your club control panel
  • Click 'Site Content' from the left-hand menu
  • Click 'News' from the sub-menu
  • Click 'Add Article' on the right-hand side of the page
  • Enter the article title, tagline and article body
  • Select an image from your albums, the club's albums or a stock album
  • Click 'Save'

If you have a social account connected in the Settings area of the club control panel, you can automatically share the news article with the connected social account(s).

We recommend that news article images be a scale of the 16:9 ratio. Common resolutions in the 16:9 ratio are 1920 x 1080 pixels and 1280 x 720 pixels

 

Add a document to a news article

Step-by-step guide:

  • Go to your club control panel
  • Click 'Site Content' from the left-hand menu
  • Click 'News' from the sub-menu
  • Create a new article or click on an existing news article
  • Select the document to attach from the list at the bottom of the page
  • Click 'Save'

The document needs to have been uploaded to the Documents page within Site Content before you can add it to a news article.

Add a video to a news article

Step-by-step guide:

  • Go to your club control panel
  • Click 'Site Content' from the left-hand menu
  • Click 'News' from the sub-menu
  • Create a new article or click an existing article
  • Select the video to attach from the list at the bottom of the page
  • Click 'Save'

The video needs to have been uploaded to the Videos page within Site Content before you can add it to a news article.

Use BBcode in a news article

BBcode allows you to change the content in the article body. It is commonly used for:

  • Making text bold, italics
  • Making text bigger or smaller
  • Using hyperlinks and adding secondary images to articles
  • Adding bullet points
  • Creating a table

Step-by-step guide:

  • Go to your club control panel
  • Click 'Site Content' from the left-hand menu
  • Click 'News' from the sub-menu
  • Create a new article or click an existing article
  • In the article body, highlight the text you wish to edit
  • Select your change from the options at the top of the article body
  • Click 'Preview' to check you are happy with the format of the article in a new window (close the window once you're done)
  • Click 'Save'

 

Share a news article with connected social accounts

Clubs with a connected social account can automatically share news articles as they are posted on the website.

Once the news article has been posted on the website, visitors can also manually share it with their own social accounts.

Step-by-step guide:

  • Create a news article as outlined in Add a video to a news article
  • Once saved, tick the account(s) you wish to share the article to on the Publish to Social Media page
  • Click 'Save'

News articles posted with a publish date or time set in the future cannot be shared automatically with the club's connected social accounts but can be shared manually when viewing the news article on the website.

 

Delete a news article

Step-by-step guide:

  • Go to your club control panel
  • Click 'Site Content' from the left-hand menu
  • Click 'News' from the sub-menu
  • Locate the news article you wish to remove
  • Click the spanner icon on the right-hand side page
  • Click 'Delete'
  • If you wish to proceed, click 'Yes, I am sure'

Once deleted, you will not be able to recover the news article.
