Introduction
This page lists ideas to help and inspire club officials.
We welcome all new ideas and tips. Email your top ideas to Oliver@thefundraisingclub.org.uk.
Update Volunteers
One club official will sign up for the Lottery, but most clubs rely on a small army of volunteers and club officials from different age groups and sections within the club.
To maximise the monthly Grant, all volunteers and club officials must try to promote the Lottery within their age group (over 18 years) and section.
A few messages from one influential volunteer or captain could inspire many new players. A great way to do this is via email or WhatsApp.
Share regular good news:
- When the monthly Grant is paid, make sure they know!
- Keep them updated on the TOTAL RAISED so far.
- Detail how this is helping the club
- Remind them of the target and how much is still to raise.
Make sure you share this page and encourage them to use the banners and text provided.
Goal: First 50!
We encourage every club to set the first goal of selling 50 tickets, generating a Grant of £300 per month or £3,600 per year!
How to reach 5 tickets?
- 5 teams could sell 10 tickets each...
- 10 volunteers could sell 5 tickets each...
Break if down into bite-sized pieces and divide 50 across the different sections of the club.
£300 is an excellent monthly donation that funds lots of new initiatives across the club.
Team Goals
Why not set each team a goal of selling 10 tickets?
If the players are under 18 years old, communicate with parents/carers. If they are over 18 years old, communicate directly with the players.
10 teams = 100 tickets = £600 per month or £7,200 per year
20 teams = 200 tickets = £1,200 per month or £14,400 per year
40 teams = 400 tickets = £2,400 per month or £28,800 per year
As every team captain or coach to recruit 10 players, and the Grants will soon add up.
Videos & Photos
Nothing beats a great video!
Why not create a short video explaining the Lottery and the cause it is supporting? Mention the Lottery, the Grants and the free Gourmet Society membership card.
Share the video in WhatsApp groups. This will help players, members and supporters to better understand the Lottery and why it is essential to the club.
Most clubs/teams will have a WhatsApp group. These are ideal for targeting specific players and parents. Ask volunteers to mention the cause and Lottery in each group, and remember to include a link to the club Lottery page.
You can view sample WhatsApp text here.
Make sure your message focuses on the cause and the free Gourmet Society membership card.
Social Media
Every club will operate social media accounts across X, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Use social media to reach supporters and fans who are not officially registered with the club but may support the club.
Post text, banners and links to the club Lottery page.
You can view sample social media text here.
Make sure your message focuses on the cause and the free Gourmet Society membership card.
If your club is a member of Pitchero, Pitchero will create automated marketing to drive your members aged over 18 to your Lottery landing page. This will be a combination of banner advertising across your club website and marketing emails.
Posters
Hang posters in the clubhouse and changing rooms, across notice boards, and behind the bar. Don't forget the toilets!
You can view sample posters here. You can also request posters that are printed and sent to your home address.
Announcements
At your next home game, why not announce the Lottery on the pitch tannoy or within the clubhouse after the game?
- Introduce fans to a new way to support the club
- Make it clear they could WIN up to £25,000!
- Make it clear the club receives a Grant from every ticket towards your cause.
- Direct them to the club website and tell them to click "LOTTERY"
- End the announcement by telling the supporter how much has already been raised and thank them for their support.
Club Events
Your club will host events throughout the year: home games, dinners, award nights and social events.
User the event to promote the Lottery. Make announcements, leave flyers on tables, and make sure posters are easily viewed.
Events are a great place to use the Lottery App, this allows clubs to sign up players on the spot!

Local Press
Your local press is always seeking good news stories. Why not write a short article and send it to your local news desk? Ensure you lead with the cause and why fundraising from the Lottery is essential.
Ensure you include a photo of the case and the URL of the Lottery page.
FREE Gourmet Society membership card
This is a great incentive for all club members, especially young players and families. The card entitles players up to 30% off high-street restaurants..
30% off could be a considerable saving over the year, far more than the cost of a ticket!
