photo format on home page
Why oh why has the format changed to square, square format is very specialised and came from using 2 1/4 square format cameras, hardly anyone uses them these days. Please go back to an oblong format that will suit 99.99% of cameras used and photos taken,
Whilst photo’s will be in square format on some pages, we have introduced a range of new homepage templates that will allow rectangular sized images.
Here are some blogs that should give you more info: https://www.pitchero.com/blog/2014/11/25/389-creating-an-engaging-homepage

The only way I can think to do it is to add a very thick black border to the bottom of each rectangular photo to make it squre. You can then add a caption and title to it on the bottom.
A bit time consuming, and will only work while the side has so much black on it.

Further to my comment above, has anyone tried to get a square format photo from an oblong one taken by all cameras. Unless the subject in the photo has a huge border to play with it is almost impossible to get in the important parts of the photo. Ever tried to get a close up of team so you can see the players faces and fill the frame in to a square picture, thought not. Please go back to oblong.
